Soylent Green (1973)

One of the weirder movies I've seen in a really long time. A sci-fi movie set in 2022 New York City. Global warming has made the whole world hot and nothing grows. NYC is overcrowded. Rich men live in fancy apartment buildings and have access to bourbon and beef. Beautiful women work as "furniture"-- i.e., live-in companions of the tenants. The poor masses sleep on the street, one on top of the other, and are forced to eat a food called soylent green. Charlton Heston plays a detective investigating the murder of a Soylent executive. Edward G. Robinson, in his final role, plays Heston's loyal assistant.
