Lazy Eye Silverlake

Many thanks to K.D. and A.L. for hosting Lazy Eye at their place in Silverlake last night. The food and drink flowed freely and a good time was had by all. We watched Barton Fink, the Coen brothers' baffler from 1991. The movie, starring Johns Turturro and Goodman, was set in L.A. in 1941. The movie made constant reference to the oppressive summer heat, which, of course, was not lost on us. The heat, when will it ever end?

We are happy to announce that our next movie selection is Union Station (1950), starring William Holden. The early 50s were good to our man Bill, so he should be looking pretty yummy. The next meeting will be some time in late August. Stay tuned for details.

Here are the movies offered up by last night's group:

K.D.: The Wild Bunch, The Muppet Movie, Used Cars

A.L.: Summer Rental, Airplane, Boogie Nights

M: Quick Change, Bob Roberts, Cannonball Run (Runner Up: Police Academy 4: Citizens on Patrol)

H: Union Station (our next movie), Sunset Boulevard, Laurel Canyon

N: The Groove Tube, Man with Two Brains, What's Up, Doc?

T: 28 Days Later, Aliens, Poltergeist

E.D.: Major League, Coming to America, and Sullivan's Travels

H.H.: Shaolin Soccer, Kung Fu Hustle, Shanghai Knights

R.C.: Iron Giant, Branded to Kill, Gremlins 2

Mad Pres: Goonies, Network, something else I can't remember

Repo Man

One of these days I'm going to make it to a cemetery screening. Maybe this weekend's showing of Repo Man (1984) will be it.
